State Secretaries to the Ministers

A State Secretary assists a minister in matters relating to political steering and preparatory work. In line with the minister's instructions, he/she also assists and represents the minister in drafting political guidelines, handling inter-ministerial co-ordination and harmonising policy positions.

The term of a State Secretary, who must enjoy the confidence of the minister in question, is linked to that of the minister. During the talks on the formation of each new Government, the appointment of, and new requirement for, State Secretaries is assessed.
